Who is Study Cairns?
Study Cairns (formerly Cairns International Education Providers) was established in 1997 and aims to unify providers of international education and international support services in promoting the Cairns Region as the preferred International Education destination in Queensland.
Study Cairns is a collaborative international education and training network and marketing cluster in the Cairns region, showcasing the quality and range of study options available. It represents organisations, institutions and businesses in Cairns that are dedicated to providing help and support to students in the region.
The cluster is the central point of contact for any business involving education, training or support services within the region. This includes student and agent enquiries along with education businesses wishing to expand their markets into this region.
Study Cairns is also responsible for building relationships between local providers and students wishing to study/live or study/travel. This includes both the long and short term enquiry.
It is also the key stakeholder that liaises with Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation, Department of Education and Training, Cairns Regional Council, Advance Cairns, Austrade and other industry bodies involved with increasing and improving education and training within Australia, Queensland and more importantly, Far North Qld.

At the release of its 2014-2016 Strategic Plan the President of Study Cairns, Carol Doyle announced that the organisation had set a vision for the region, that by 2020, Cairns will be the iconic tropical education and training destination in the Asia Pacific.

Study Cairns purpose is to develop and retain its status as the peak body for international education and training in the region.
The organisation believes that there is potential to grow student numbers and expenditure in Cairns by 25% from currently $120m pa (YE2014) to an achievable $150m in (YE2016).
In the past year it is estimated that a total of 18,375 student visitors were attracted to the region in 2013/2014, accounting for an estimated 500,000 student visitor days.
Our average daily international student visit population is estimated to be 1375, fluctuating to about 565 in January with a peak of about 2000 a day in August.
It is estimated that accommodation demand for international students while on courses is currently about 500,000 bed nights per annum. The accommodation sector providing facilities for students ranging from homestay, farmstay, sharehouse accommodation to residential rentals.
Global Markets vary across sectors, however the region’s major markets continue to be Japan, China, India, Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and South America.
There are some 17 different providers identified in the Cairns region delivering international education services at 44 campus locations in the sectors of school, vocational training, university, English language and study tours.
