Catholic Education Services

Catholic Education in the Diocese of Cairns consists of twenty primary schools and five secondary colleges. Eight primary schools and three secondary colleges are in the City of Cairns, the remainder being in regional centres within 120klms of Cairns. This later group can provide an Australian rural experience for visitors.

The schools and colleges provide primary and secondary education to matriculation standard and programs are based on the Queensland State accredited syllabuses. For secondary students, boarding facilities are available for students wishing to complete these programs. The senior secondary program is of two years duration.

The Catholic schools are small institutions of up to 1000 students providing personal service in a caring and safe environment!

A mix of urban and rural experiences is available. Cairns region offers access to the Great Barrier Reef, Wet Tropics Rainforest, and farming environments.

Courses

• Primary Education (Pre-school - Year 7): Queensland SCC Syllabus for all key-learning areas.
• Junior Secondary (Year 8 - Year 10): Queensland SCC Syllabus for all key-learning areas.
• Senior Secondary (Year 11 - Year 12): Queensland BSSSS syllabus for fifty courses including specialisation in Mathematics, Science, Arts, Cultural Studies and Language.
• Study Tours: Primary and Secondary. Programs as negotiated.

City and rural locations are available. Catholic primary and secondary schools are located in the city of Cairns (9 primary schools and 3 secondary schools) and in rural areas, all within a two hour drive of Cairns (10 primary schools and 2 secondary schools)
