Lead KPIs for Study Cairns

The following shows the lead KPIs for Study Cairns for 2009:

  1. To maintain and continue to develop the profile of Study Cairns, locally, nationally and internationally, resulting in our region being recognised as a serious education destination.
  2. Positioning Study Cairns executive members as key opinion formers in the industry. Share the wealth of information within the membership and enable members to learn from each other and experts in the industry.
  3. Continue to increase the number of students and yield for its members
  4. Implement projects that result from the strategic plan through the Department of Tourism, Regional Development and Industry funding
  5. Action a plan to allow the organisation to become self funding.
  6. Continue to improve the safety levels of inbound Students by working with TTNQ and the local police.

Projects to support our KPIs for 2009:

  1. Have our executive officer work more closely with the local media to lift the profile of Study Cairns locally as well as nationally. Possibly hold a professional development day for members to learn about dealing with the media.

Work towards the ANZA workshop being held in Cairns in 2010 through participation in the 2009 workshops in New Zealand, encouraging schools / agents to vote for our region and by submitting an irresistible proposal with the support of TTNQ and Advanced Cairns. This will bring over 200 international agents and a further 200 schools from Australia and New Zealand to our region, showcasing FNQ as a leading education destination.

Educate International perceptions of Cairns through at least one overseas group

trade participation . Members are encouraged to notify the executive officer of any destinations they would like to visit with Study Cairns as a group.

Work closely with QETI and if funding is available, send a representative to attend one of their overseas missions.

  2. Continue meeting with the industry stakeholders including State and Federal Government, lobbying for further funding and recognition.

Encourage members, particularly the executive to sit on local boards, attend networking functions and visit national and international government offices, providing recognition for Study Cairns and also feeding information back to the members.

Share the expertise of the executive by having other people chair parts of the meeting and encourage input from the members present at meetings.

Invite guest speakers to networking functions to impart their wealth of knowledge.

  3. Continue to channel website and meeting enquiries to members.

Implement an evaluation within the membership to ascertain the potential lead to confirmed business outcomes.

Conduct at least one overseas mission with the support of Austrade and potentially other industry bodies such as Advanced Cairns.

  4. These are yet to be determined as the final strategic plan has not been released. However, there is approximately $10,000 remaining to commit to a local marketing company to start the projects. It is assumed that further funding will be required to implement the entire strategic plan.
  5. Increase membership to Study Cairns to secure the full-time position required for the network to strengthen.

Executive members to meet with potential members to discuss the opportunities available to them.

Develop a self funding concept such as the student booklet so that the organisation no longer needs to rely on applications.

Meet with Desley Boyle to ensure commitment of the ongoing State funding

  6. Encourage Keiko Berry, Japanese Liaison officer to attend all meetings, providing us with updates, the opportunity to provide suggestions and a direct lead with the local police so that we can remain committed to the safety of our international students.

Introduce Ms Berry to new members and encourage them to incorporate the information provided by the local police into their orientations.
