Weekly Business enrolments accepted
Their self paced Business classes start every Monday of the year (except over the Christmas break), so you can enrol at any time. This is applicable to their Certificate III in Business Administration, Certificate IV in Business and the Certificate IV and Diploma Packages.
Only Cairns college that guarantees you a work placement
Those who study at Tropical Institute will be given a farm work placement within the region. This is great if you are interested in earning extra money or want to experience living in a nearby rural town or, for those eligible, to apply for an additional years working visa. They will also assist you in getting part-time work in Cairns during your studies, and if you do their TESOL course they will guarantee you a job overseas.
Excellent teachers and facilities
The teachers are highly qualified and experienced and they are also one of the only Cairns teacher training centres for TESOL. Classes are held in a modern facility in the very centre of Cairns with cafes and shops surrounding the building. To meet students diverse needs, the College offer external, full-time, part-time, day and evening courses. Their 2 1/2 day Business courses allow plenty of time for those who want to work part-time. If you can't get to Cairns at all, you can study their flexible external TESOL course from a distance.
Small and friendly college
Tropical Institute offers a very personalised service with classes so little you'll be known by your name and not by your number! They pride themselves on being a family style college where class sizes are small and student support is large. English classes have a maximum of 10 students and Business classes have up to 20 students.
Pathway options
Their courses are designed to provide you with a number of pathways and they will help guide you to exactly where you want to go. A number of nationally and CRICOS accredited and recognised vocational education opportunities are available for those seeking this route. Some students may decide to use their courses as a stepping-stone to the local University - James Cook University or other Australian Universities.
