Today, Queensland’s two major services exports are tourism and education. International Education is recognised as the 5th largest export and 2nd largest services export contributing over $3.5 billion to our economy and creating 20,000 full-time equivalent jobs for Queenslanders including over 1000 jobs in Cairns.
It is estimated that International Education brings in over $165 million annually to Far North Queensland alone. On an annual basis more than 45,000 international students choose to study in Cairns. In addition to its economic contribution, the International Education and Training industry promotes cultural diversity and enrichment, drives innovation and advancement, and gives individuals the skills and knowledge they need to transform their lives.
Study Cairns is dedicated to supporting our members and students achieve growth and maximize opportunities for the Cairns region. Our vision is to see Cairns become the leading regional International Education and Training destination in the Asia Pacific by 2020.
Study Cairns has played a big part in positioning our city over the past 21 years as a premier international study and edutourism destination, with our schools, English language centres, VET providers and universities attracting students from over 100 countries every year.
Our members make up a progressive network of participants from various sectors of industry. We are proud of our role in bringing together educational institutions, study tours, homestay and student accommodation, tourism partners and student support services who all appreciate the value of the international student market. Your involvement in Study Cairns will only make this network stronger and help us reach a wider global audience.
